I came to America from Jamaica at the age of nine and was homeless by the age of fifteen. I faced many struggles of being in a foreign country with no parents, no food, and no money; it made me feel very much alone. I took comfort in the sport of basketball because It diminished my feeling of loneliness and I felt apart of a team. When I felt I was at the lowest point in my life, the coach of a local non-profit took an interest in me. He helped me improve my game and more importantly he taught me to believe in my own strength and power.
My early love of basketball has since evolved into a passion for all aspects of fitness and nutrition. I firmly believe in cooking and eating well, in educating others about their own heath and wellness, and in exercise.
I have currently developed a new found love for traveling the world where I can continue to learn and experience new cultures and the difference ways of life. Through all of these life experiences, I have come to understand that no matter how difficult the journey is it is still possible to live with energy and passion.
